The Honorable Pietro Parravano

Leadership Council

Pietro Parravano is the President of the Institute for Fisheries Resources in San Francisco. He is the owner/operator of F/V Anne B, whose homeport is Half Moon Bay, California. Mr. Parravano serves as Vice President of the San Mateo County Harbor District Board of Commissioners. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Monterey Bay Aquarium and on the California Sea Grant Advisory Board, as well as Chair of the fishing committee for the Apostleship of the Sea's maritime ministry program. He is a member of the Roots of Change Council, an organization that supports the transition to sustainable food systems, and he is a founding member of the World Forum of Fish Workers and Fish Harvesters in New Delhi, India. His dedication to commercial fishing has been recognized by San Mateo County, the California Legislature, and the U.S. Senate. He has also been awarded the Sustainable San Mateo County Award, the Highliner Award from National Fisherman magazine, and the Environmental Hero Award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a graduate degree in biology from Eastern Michigan University. Mr. Parravano was a commissioner on the Pew Oceans Commission.
